View from here

Here are Penny, Lily and Daisy with their visiting buck, Sampson (he's third from the left). He will stay with them for about another month and hopefully in June we will have kids. The girls have gotten to be quite big, Lily is even larger than Penny now, but rounder and fatter.

Puck, true to his breed, sniffing out something.

Most of the flock. These days, they usually only venture out when I am dumping table scraps into their yard.

This is Sandy, he's the lone surviving chick who was hatched in a nest behind the mock orange bush in my front garden last May. His mother was a barnevelder hen, named Brownie, but he is the spitting image of his father Rodney. The two of them have been getting very close lately and Rodney seems to be grooming him as his successor. Rodney is top rooster, and it is the first time he has ever seemed to promote another rooster as his equal. Do you think he knows that Sandy is his son? Hmmmm. I have trouble believing what I see in the barn sometimes.
